We Need Proven Fighters, and I’m All In

Hi folks — it’s George Conway.

In 2016, I voted for Donald Trump, and I was wrong.

Trump betrayed the values he professed to care about. He betrayed the American people, and he betrayed our democracy. So for the last decade, I’ve upended my personal and professional life to do everything in my power to stop him. Now, I’m taking this fight to the next level.

Today, I’m announcing my Democratic Campaign for Congress to keep Donald Trump from destroying our democracy.

Look, being a former Republican isn’t my whole story.

My mother immigrated from the Philippines as an organic chemist. I followed in her footsteps and majored in biochemistry before I went to Law School to pursue my true passion – Constitutional Law.

Looking back, the Constitution was my first love. At 10, I was obsessed with the Watergate Scandal. (Little did I know that was child’s play compared to what Trump would do).

I know that sounds boring and nerdy, but the promise of our democracy, freedoms, and the rule of law fascinates me – and for years I thought Republicans upheld those same ideals.

I was so wrong. I know that’s not a phrase you hear very often from politicians, but I think honesty is severely lacking in our politics today, so you’ll never hear me deny it. Trump fooled me.

When I finally got a peek under the hood and saw what these lying, sleazebag, horrible MAGA loyalists were doing to our country, I couldn’t stomach it.

So, I quit the Republican Party to found the Lincoln Project and stop the MAGA machine. I took every opportunity to expose Trump for the egomaniac he is. And now, I’m running to STOP that buffoon from destroying our democracy.

When I believe in something, I stand by it – and that drives a con man like Trump nuts.

It’s why he likes to call me a “stone cold loser.” But my values have never changed. I know who I am and what I’m for:

I’m for the rule of law.

I’m for equality under the law.

I’m for freedom of speech and religion.

And above all, I’m for democracy.

Look, I’m running because I can bring something unique to this fight: I know the MAGA extremist playbook.

I know what makes Trump tick. We need Democrats in office who can look Trump in the eye and call out his bullshit. We need Democrats who can stand up to Trump and win. This fight is personal to me, and I’m ready to get in the ring.
