The Republic Won't Save Itself
This New Year, I’m Starting a Substack
I’m done being a talking head.
I’m going into the arena. I’ve already put my money where my mouth is, but now it’s time to lay it all on the line.
It’s time to defeat Trumpism once and for all. The 2026 midterms are not about winning the news cycle, consultant egos, or clever slogans. This is about something much bigger: whether the United States is still a country of laws, or Donald Trump’s personal playground.
Congress has rolled over.
Republicans have excused lawlessness, normalized corruption, and debased themselves in service of one man’s ego. We’ve watched Republicans pardon crooks, protect grifters, and sell out working people, all while pretending this is just normal politics. It isn’t. It’s institutional rot and downright betrayal.
The House of Representatives is supposed to keep presidents in check. Instead, it’s become a kneeling gallery. Right now, a handful of seats is all that stands between democracy and a president who answers to no one. Taking back the House in 2026, and putting fighters in the House in 2027, is crucial for the survival of our Republic.
What makes 2026 different from 2018 is simple: Trump doesn’t just control the Republican Party. Trump is the Republican party. House Republicans have fused their political survival to his grievances, his lies, and his demand for absolute loyalty. They don’t want power to govern. They want power to obey.
And Trump doesn’t need a landslide to do serious damage. He just needs a Congress that refuses to investigate, refuses to ask questions, and refuses to say no.
That ends after the 2026 elections.
We need Democrats to take over Congress—and not just any Democrats, but the most fearless and relentless ones. People are struggling. Groceries cost too much. Rent is out of control. Health care is unaffordable. Trump swore he’d fix prices on Day One. He didn’t. Now he says affordability is a “hoax.” Democrats should be screaming that from the rooftops every single day. The real hoax? Trump’s claim that he’s created an economy that’s “A++++++.”
That kind of bullshit is why I’m starting this Substack. To call this moment what it is, to track the erosion of democratic guardrails in real time, and to build a community of people who are sick to death of Trump and ready to fight back.
The next two years will show us exactly how much lawlessness Republicans will accept. Doing nothing is the same as saying yes.
So I’m challenging everyone to take action in 2026, and we’re going to use this space to help you find ways to get involved in the political and moral fight of our time: defeating Trump and Trumpism once and for all.
